“I like to work with different materials and design fields and try out the limits of the possible all the time. I want my products to have something to say, to have meaning beyond the trend seasons. Also, it is my wish to be able to deal with general issues and make a difference through art or design work.”

Marita Huurinainen is a Masters graduate 2006 of Helsinki University of Art and Design. She has also complemented her expertise on Musashino Art University in Tokyo. She runs her studio that produces her own avant gardistic collections as well as lines for various companies in the industry, for example her own name collections for Marimekko 2007 and 2008.

She has been awarded with various international and national design prizes such as Ornamo Design Prize 2009, Baltic Fashion Award 2005, Lindstrom Award 2004, and Marimekko Design Prize both 2004 and 2006.

“Beauty is a real value, what makes our surroundings nicer and benefits the general wellbeing. However, all the products have to be functional in the means they are built for. In best products these two quality requirements are both fulfilled.”
